We’ve been draft and weather proofing our house this summer and autumn ahead of the winter using a wide assortment of products and methods. One particular issue that we’ve faced is draft proofing our conservatory door that has significant gaps and that unnecessarily lets in a lot of cool air.
With nearly 100 metres of beading laid to cover gaps between the floor and skirting boards, we decided to finish this project off by filling the remaining small gaps with wood filler. We used Ronseal Multi Purpose Wood Filler.
It has been five months since our air source heat pump has been installed so we felt it’s a good time to review the performance and efficiency of Global Energy System’s Caernarfon 18kW Eco Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP).
I’m going to pre-empt this post by saying that I don’t, thankfully, have a bodily odour (BO) problem, but I do use deodorants from time to time, especially when I have to do physically demanding work or when I go out. For as long as I can remember, I’ve never used antiperspirant deodorants, aerosols or mainstream products and have tried to support and stick to organic, natural products.
Our TV room and downstairs guest bedroom are the two coldest rooms in the house as they are north facing and get very little sunlight during the day. They are also located a long distance from our utility room where our central heating control panel is located, which posed an issue for us to get them communicating with our air source heat pump and to call for heat. After some deliberation, our installers suggested that we install Salus digital thermostats.
It’s been four months since our panels went up, and it’s a fitting time to review their performance and do a solar PV and inverter review of our system. We get technical and specific about the efficiency of our new solar panels.
Being in the UK, people are sometimes skeptical about the effectiveness and performance of solar energy, so we wanted to give an unbiased report, based on real life experiences, illustrating power output on overcast, rainy and sunny days.
