Reviewing Workpro’s cordless, home DIY drill

by Mars

We’ve built a lot of things from wood in the past three years and I’ve found that taking the patient approach of drilling pilot holes and then driving wood screws in with an impact driver makes for solid, well-built projects. The batteries on our old drill, a 6 or 7 year old Makita, finally died and we couldn’t find replacements, so we were really keen to try out Workpro’s 12V cordless drill.

While filming this review, we used the drill on an assortment of projects where we built, amongst other things, an oak sleeper raised bed, cold frame and raised beds from up-cycled pallets. You can see the drill in action and what comes inside the set in this video review.

I think that this set offers great value for money as home DIY drill given that you’re getting a compact, lightweight drill with two batteries and an assortment of drill bits. It’s selling for £52.99 on Amazon at time of writing.

Just rebuild your old batteries. Carefully take the battery case apart and replace the old batteries with new ones. You can get them cheap enough on ebay. Simple job.
