How to replace a motor on a motorised UFH valve

by Mars

It’s been one of those periods where a lot has been going wrong. We woke up this week to the underfloor heating (UFH) not working. In this post (and video) I’ll walk you through how we replaced the motor on our motorised UFH valve.

To coincide with our bad spell of things breaking and going wrong, we’ve not had the best of luck getting tradesmen out to our property, so when the UFH stopped working, I was determined to diagnose and fix the issue myself and save myself the stress and frustration.

The good news was that the air source heat pump was working and the radiators were being heated, so this meant that something to do with the UFH had gone on the fritz.

In this video, I’ll take you through the process we followed, and I’ll preempt this by saying that we did fix it, and it only cost us £13 in parts and £10 on a multimeter.

WARNING

I’ve got a warning in the video and I’ll post one here too. What I’ve detailed involves working with live electricity over 220V. This can be seriously dangerous, so if you’re not comfortable doing this, or have never worked with electricity before, please do not attempt this as you can seriously hurt yourself.
