The Immersun PowerDivert is a device that allows you to divert excess solar energy generated by your solar panels to your immersion heater or other electrical appliances in your home. This means that you can use the excess energy generated by your solar panels (or wind turbine) to heat your water or power your appliances, rather than exporting it back to the grid.

Thanks for this interesting review. Like yourselves we have an ASHP and solar panels. So, just to fully understand, does this power divert solar energy directly to your ASHP which then heats the hot water? We only have the hot water cylinder that came with the ASHP. We don’t have a separate immersion heater. Can the Immersun automatically divert to other appliances – like oven, electric shower, washing machines and dish washer?
You’re welcome! As long as the HW cylinder has an immersion heater element (or a slot to insert one), the Immersun should be able to divert excess solar energy to heat the water in the cylinder. However, if your cylinder does not have an immersion heater element, then the Immersun may not be able to divert energy to heat your hot water. It will not be able to heat the hot water that’s part of your heating circuit unless you have a buffer with the ability to insert an immersion.
As for other appliances, it’s not ideal for dishwashers or ovens, because if the solar production drops (let’s say some clouds move in) it’s stop that diversion of electricity. It’s probably better suited for storage heaters or something similar.
I hope that helps.
