We get our gardening hands on a pair of the Swiss-made, award-winning Felco 2 secateurs and put them to the test to see if they really live up to the high expectations we have after seeing Laura at Garden Answer (YouTube channel) recommend them.
While reviewing the Felco 2 we also take a look at some of the other crafted gardening tools that Felco make and try out the Felco 211-60 loppers for some hardier pruning tasks on our smallholding.
We give you our first impressions and an honest opinion, and see if they are worth the investment and whether they will become a staple gardening tool for us in the long-term.
I had a pair of Felco no. 2 secateurs some years ago. I treated myself to them knowing they would last a lifetime. Sadly,I lost them. I suspect they ended up in the waste bin!
Wow Keith. Thatβs tragic. Weβll certainly make a concerted effort not to make the same mistake. At least your friends and family know what to get you for Christmas.
I still have the pair that were given to me when I worked as a gardener for a spell, probably 10 years ago now. I use them almost everyday in the sunny months. Still sharp enough to leave Gosia with a good few stitches when she mistook her hand for a branch a few years ago!
They certainly look well made and should be durable. Wow, Gosia’s lucky to have just escaped with a few stitches given how sharp and strong these secateurs are. Ouch. We’ll be extra vigilant and cautious using them.

Kirsten can now also attest to the sharpness – she nipped the top off her left thumb clean off while pruning some lavender: https://www.instagram.com/p/CEogWVmgGx1/?igshid=s0icoxj31ly7
