Concerned about snails and slugs

We finally got some good rainfall last night and this morning, as part of the veg patch and orchard inspection, I came across several snails and slugs on our path leading down to the field.

I’ll be honest. They make me anxious because I know very little about them, and what little I do know is that they’re renowned for decimating veg patches and plants.

I’m also not a believer in just eradicating wildlife, so I’ll be getting some books to help me learn which snails and slugs are useful, and which ones are not. The same will apply to other ‘pests’.

As I learn and find out more, and come across more potential pests, I’ll share my learnings and findings.

Here are two varieties of the snails I came across today.
