We built a sawbuck from old reclaimed oak

A sawbuck (or sawhorse) is a stand that is used for cutting or chainsawing wood and logs into manageable pieces that will fit into your fireplace or wood burning stove. To date, when chainsawing wood, it’s involved me bending over and cutting logs on the ground or placing branches on a tree stump, neither of which are particularly safe practice.

To remedy this, I decided to build our own sawbuck. The house we moved into had been renovated by the previous owners and they left a large pile of old oak beams and joists in the garage.

To this point, we didn’t have a use for them, until the sawbuck idea materialised. This video shows how made our sawbuck from the reclaimed wood and what tools we used.
