One of the first smart home devices we purchased after moving in were Eve Thermo TRVs so that we could get better control over our air source heat pump central…
When we committed to installing an air source heat pump (ASHP), we had reservations whether it would heat the house sufficiently. At the same time, we wanted to move away…
Our Caernarfon air source heat pump has now been operational since the spring. It’s time to see how it performed over the course of the past three months as part of our autumn air source heat pump review.
We had our first snow of the winter followed by a day of brilliant blue skies – both were icy cold. The juxtaposition of these days has, however, created a clear picture of the effectiveness of our air source heat pump central heating.
Six months ago we replaced all 12 of our conventional TRVs on our radiators with Eve Thermo smart TRVs. We found it crazy that we had to run from room to room during the cold winter months turning radiator valves on and off, which was an inefficient and ineffective way of heating our property. This is our Eve Thermo review.
Our TV room and downstairs guest bedroom are the two coldest rooms in the house as they are north facing and get very little sunlight during the day. They are also located a long distance from our utility room where our central heating control panel is located, which posed an issue for us to get them communicating with our air source heat pump and to call for heat. After some deliberation, our installers suggested that we install Salus digital thermostats.
With the solar panel array fully up and running, we have installed Global Energy Systems’ Caernarfon 18kW Eco Air Source Heat Pump making the move from oil to air source central heating.
The reason we opted for the Caernarfon CAER410AMOD1 (that’s the model number) was because unlike Mitsubishi, Hitachi and other makers of heat pumps, Global Energy design and manufacture a pump for the UK climate, and we required a pump powerful enough to heat our entire house.
