With the solar panel array fully up and running, we have installed Global Energy Systems’ Caernarfon 18kW Eco Air Source Heat Pump making the move from oil to air source central heating.
The reason we opted for the Caernarfon CAER410AMOD1 (that’s the model number) was because unlike Mitsubishi, Hitachi and other makers of heat pumps, Global Energy design and manufacture a pump for the UK climate, and we required a pump powerful enough to heat our entire house.
We selected E-ON as our JA solar photovoltaic panels installer and they obtained all the necessary approvals for our project.
We opted for a large array consisting of 22 panels delivering 6.16kW (with an annual estimated output of 5,506kWh) in order to power the air source heat pump during the day.
When we purchased this propery, there were two fireplaces: one in the kitchen/dining area, the other in the living room. When we finally got around to putting the fires on for the first time, we were astounded by the smell and amount of smoke we got inside the house.
