Makita cordless lawn mower and strimmer review

We purchased two cordless Makita garden tools, the DLM431 lawn mower and DUR181Z strimmer, to help us maintain our manicured front and back garden. We’re not fans of petrol motors, and given the distance from the nearest power socket to areas we need to maintain, we opted for battery operated tools.

Building our own redwood cube box planters

We got a really good deal on an olive tree at Morrisons. The average price for a ‘cheap’ online planter that’s around 50x50x50cm in size is £50 and they are made from thin, flimsy wood, and we needed two. We did the maths and good quality, treated wood for two 60x60x60cm box planters was going to cost us around £40, a saving of £60.

Review of 1200W electric Ryobi strimmer

We were in need of some serious strimming power to help us tackle a field that had become overgrown with grass and dock leaves. After extensive online research we purchased a Ryobi RBC1226I Electric 2-in-1 1200W strimmer. This is the first time we have purchased a Ryobi product and our verdict is in.

Moving from dirty oil to air source central heating

With the solar panel array fully up and running, we have installed Global Energy Systems’ Caernarfon 18kW Eco Air Source Heat Pump making the move from oil to air source central heating.

The reason we opted for the Caernarfon CAER410AMOD1 (that’s the model number) was because unlike Mitsubishi, Hitachi and other makers of heat pumps, Global Energy design and manufacture a pump for the UK climate, and we required a pump powerful enough to heat our entire house.

JA solar photovoltaic panels installed

We selected E-ON as our JA solar photovoltaic panels installer and they obtained all the necessary approvals for our project.

We opted for a large array consisting of 22 panels delivering 6.16kW (with an annual estimated output of 5,506kWh) in order to power the air source heat pump during the day.
